LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK

Speaker – Influencing others

Back in 2018, I was involved in a speaker engagement event on giving a panel speech on the top 5 tips for evolving into Fintech as a UX designer: the day to day challenges of working in such an innovative and fast industry.

Hackathon – Hosted #HackYVR

I enjoy making a positive impact to my community. Thus, I hosted my first-ever 1 day-Hackathon in 2019 – #hackyvr: an opportunity to bring designers and developers together to create concepts for a Smart City Solution with the City of Vancouver. I also taught a lesson on Rapid Prototyping.

Fintech Hackathon 2nd place winner

Having a growth & curious mindset, I won 2nd place in a 2-day hackathon on “a mobile app solution that connects expat women with female financial advisors in your area, in your language.” with TexxFactor by Deutsche Bank
The main focus of the hackathon was “Women & Finance”to close the gender gap in the finance industry. My team consisted of a UI/UX designer (me), two researchers, a developer, and two product managers.

Showing leadership at a Hackathon

Being a natural-born leader, I was part of a 2-day virtual hackathon by the company, Mahle to help lead the design thinking process for their challenge. I have (remotely) worked with a diverse team of designers and researchers to bring together a solution that would promote safety for a cyclist across multiple Urban Mobility Cities.

I assisted with the wireframes and design for the IoT mobile app solution on the concept of ‘How might we bring safety and convienence to bike commuters on a daily basis and to ensure an enjoyable ride for them to their destination point?
